Under The Bridge Guitar Lesson

Under The Bridge Guitar Lesson

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante teaches their 1992 hit song Under The Bridge in an amazing guitar lesson. Reaching number 13 in the UK single charts the song really helped RHCP establish themselves as one of the biggest alternative rock bands in the early 90s.

Vocalist Anthony Kiedis wrote the lyrics to express a feeling of loneliness and despondency, and to reflect on narcotics and their impact on his life. Ironically the song's success led in part to the departure of Frusciante, who preferred the band to remain underground. Indeed you can see Frusciante's growing disenchantment with the band during this period as he played the now infamous rendition of the song on Saturday Night Live in 1992. (Click the link to watch!) Cited by Kiedis in his autobiography as deliberately out of key to put him off his singing the two's body language is clear at the end of the video as Kiedis and Flea back away staring at Frusciante - the split was inevitable and Frusciante plunged even further into the dark world of drug addiction and personal isolation directly after.

Learn To Play Guitar
I was a fairly new guitarist when I went to Hawi. Hawi got me play the music I liked, giving me confidence in my playing, coupled with the fact that you will be learning from one of the premier guitarists in the country. - Dean, Essex
